Description: Dismissal from services will be discussed as well as revisiting our current state vs. desired state as it relates to the 2017-18 school year. Time will be reserved for “shared learning” from participants including best practices questions and sharing information from MSHA or other conferences. Registrants are encouraged to email Lori Torres ltorres@inghamisd.org to reserve a time slot to ask or share information during the “shared learning” time. Description: Guest speaker, Diane Katakowski, Speech and Language Consultant, SP Capacity Building, Oakland Schools, will lead us as we determine how we might document a disability’s impact on a student’s access to or progress in the general education curriculum. Strategies will be reviewed for documenting a need for specialized instruction (vs. RtI/MTSS vs. no support). An “ESY update” will be also be presented.

Registrants are encouraged to bring a case example of a REED, report, eligibility form and IEP for his/her own analysis. If MTSS data is available for this case, please bring that also. Description: This Speech-Language Pathologist professional learning community meeting will set the stage for 2016-17 as we continue to focus on creating consistent practice within and between our Ingham county schools. Together, Speech-Language Pathologists and Special Education Directors will examine the components of high quality student evaluations and consider specially designed instruction (including the role of the Speech-Language Pathologist and service delivery models), MTSS, and dismissal of students.
